Welcome!

Are you experiencing changes, trying to overcome a challenging time or ready to embark on a journey of self discovery?

Here is the good news. Traditional psychotherapy is alive and well. However, what about adding creative forms of expression and communication into your therapeutic process? This can help you to overcome life’s obstacles or to find your creative voice.

I am Claudia, a qualified Dance Therapist or Body-oriented Therapist. My approach includes what is defined as the psychotherapeutic use of movement. When processing emotions these are felt and expressed in motion. One connects with the other.

My aim is to provide you with a safe space to explore the incredible and often challenging relationship that manifests in the connection between mind and body. I am committed to delivering high-quality service and together we will investigate how the body is the key to become more aware of what you want and where you wish to go. My approach is non-judgemental. I always connect with my clients starting from their needs and goals.

“ I have striven not to laugh at human actions, not to weep at them, nor to hate them, but to understand them”
- Baruch Spinoza

a short introduction

What is body oriented therapy?

Somatic Therapy or of Body-oriented Therapy focuses on the connection of the mind and body. Somatic therapists use exercises, dance improvisation, and physical techniques together with talking therapy. Those methods help to release the tension that is negatively affecting your physical and emotional wellbeing.

In body-based therapy, attention is given to the relationship between the physical symptom and what is going on in your life. The focus is on the link between physical stress and the emotional or mental issue that might cause the stress to sit for a long time in your body.

Why body oriented therapy?

Not many people are familiar with the emotional and psychological impact that movement can have on mental health and well-being. Studies have shown that 55% of our way of communicating is non verbal so wouldn’t it make sense to work with a professional who can address that?

No therapy is complete if it separates mind from body

Prevention is the real cure...

It is very common to think that those who seek therapy must be experiencing emotional distress. Therapy can also benefit those who simply wish to learn more about themselves to improve their social, personal and spiritual skiIls. Improving body awareness can allow clients to notice subtle signs of unbalance in their lives. In this way you can intervene before symptoms develop in the future.

anxiety

Therapy for Anxiety Disorder

Anxiety is a sign of awareness an alarm bell that goes off when something important needs to be addressed in our lives.

How do you typically respond when anxiety kicks in? There are many creative ways to explore your relationship with this very uncomfortable state.

According to some psychologists and therapists to literally MOVE with or MOVE away from anxiety is a very effective response.

Sensory Motor Therapy for Trauma

Therapists trained in sensorimotor therapy techniques can help an individual begin to heal by helping that person re-experience, in a safe environment, the physical sensations associated with a traumatic event.

It is a body-centered approach and depends on the bodily experiences of the individual as a gateway to awareness and improved mental health.

Somatic Therapy for Trauma

The stress of past emotional and traumatic events affect the central nervous system in the human system. This can cause changes in the body and even in our body language.

We can also often see the result in altered facial expressions and posture as well as physical pain and flashbacks.

Personal Development and Coaching

Moving and allowing your body to move consciously. It is about personal intentions. About what you want to focus on.

When working with clients that are seeking self development, I support them to be curious about themselves. I encourage them to use inner resources to embark on personal changes or to stick or follow to their designed goals. These goals might change throughout the process.

Somatic Therapy in case of Depression

“In our society that sets high standards of perfection to be ok and wins, the depressed is commonly considered as an outsider, a marginalised person unable to be in line with standards and rhythms fast and competitive of the time we live. "

Dealing with loss

The loss of someone or the end of a relationship can be often unspeakable and bring a great deal of grief.

Dance can be an opportunity to feel and express grief in a safe manner and to allow emotions to flow freely.

Movement can also hold more meaning at times and can, for some people, be related to a spiritual connection.
